Rockford Mass Transit District and the Regional Planning Council to Host Rider Forums in January
The Rockford Mass Transit District, together with R1PC, the Regional Planning Council, will be hosting a series of three Rider Forums during the month of January. The purpose of these forums is to gather input on the service needs of RMTD’s current users. All Rockford Mass Transit riders are encouraged to participate in any or all of these forums. The Rider Forums are scheduled as follows:
Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 1:15 pm until 3:15 pm in the auditorium of the North Suburban Library, 6340 N. Second Street, Loves Park, IL. The North Suburban Library is located on the RMTD #22 N. Second Street route.
Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm in the large meeting room of the Rockford Public Library’s Nordloff Center. The Nordloff Center, located at 118 N. Main Street, Rockford, is within 3 blocks of the RMTD downtown terminal serviced by most RMTD routes and is directly located on the #4 N Main route, #11 East State route, #12 Charles Street route, #14 7th Street route.
Friday, January 18, 2019 from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm in the large meeting room of the Rockford Public Library’s Nordloff Center.
All locations are wheelchair accessible.
Riders attending the forum will be asked to complete the Transit Rider survey if they have not already done so and will also be asked to participate in structured discussions on what priorities RMTD needs to focus on to improve service in the future. Attendees will also have a chance to comment on the existing route structure and the frequency of existing and future services.
Anyone who wishes to attend a Rider Forum session and is in need of a Spanish or Sign Language interpreter should contact RMTD no later than 72 hours prior to the event. Attendees needing materials translated into languages other than Spanish should advise District officials at any time during the process. RMTD will make every effort to translate materials accordingly.
The Rider Forums are just one component of a larger, comprehensive, mobility study the District and R1PC are in the process of completing in an effort to create an implementation plan for improved transportation for all residents in the RMTD service area. Community members, who are not current riders but who wish to comment on RMTD’s services, are encouraged to complete the General Transit Survey found on the Home Page of the RMTD web site, rmtd.org. The mobility study project, in its entirety, is expected to be completed by mid-summer 2019.
RMTD provides over 1.6 million rides each year. The District has a fleet of 64 fixed route and paratransit vehicles, and offers 18 hours of service Monday thru Fridays, 13 hours of service on Saturdays, and 8 hours on Sundays. Rockford Mass Transit also provides service to Loves Park, Machesney Park and Belvidere.
